I trap in Australia and have been using foam pan packers for a while now, I don't see anyone else on the trapper forum using them.
What are your thoughts, is there particular problems with using a packer under the pan?
Thanks

I think / guess what is being referred to is foam underalls. Personally I use pollyfill quilt padding under the pan.

Weather and soil conditions probably affect options for pan covers. I use wax paper and it seems to work well.

Yeah nah, they are like a pre cut, very soft, foam/sponge that fits under the pan and bracket, it keeps it clear of dirt and stuff, instead of using pan covers.
- they look like this and come in packs of 20:

These are available, I use pipe insulation, or polly-fill and cut my own: These are called underalls: Picture from Minnesota trapline products

Rhino, poly fill does the same thing and is WAY cheaper and available in Craft Stores/depts. Same as pillow stuffing.

Too wet then gets too cold in most areas east of the Mississippi to use stuff under the pan. Even if the materials don't absorb water, they can still hold water and freeze on you.

I've never had polyfill hold water or freeze. Even this week, my traps are still firing.

I have. Need to keep a bilge pump if you can't find spots where your trap beds can hold water at all.

Well if the bed is filling and freezing, nothing is going to work.

They work well for keeping drifting sugar sand out from under your pan in streams . Works real good on sandbar points
