What’s y’all’s opinion on these? Was looking at getting some and am not very familiar with them. Any input would be appreciated

I own a good number of Jakes and personally think they are a fantastic trap. Big pan size, perfectly square design, wire springs levers, pan sits below jaws, great if you like steel screen pan covers, bed super easy, pretty well good to go out of the box and they are strong. May be a bit much for areas if you're trapping mixed line with reds and greys or if you are in urban areas where someone's pet comes along, they wouldn't be easy for a non-trapper to release a pet - they are beefy. I'd use them a lot more if not exclusively for coyotes if we didn't have a jaw spread restriction where I mostly trap. IMO, everything JC makes is top notch and the Jakes are no exception

I bought a dozen jakes this year I love them but the pan tension thing gets annoying I plan on fixing that during the off season. I will order more but I just ordered a dozen mj600s to try as well. People get scared of the jakes if there are fox around but I caught 7 reds in my jakes this season 3 were pups and I would have let everyone of them go no questions asked they were in great shape.

Jakes are great traps. The pans take some getting used to but after you know your traps it becomes second nature to adjust them.
