By the way, that wasn't me. Ft.Dix 1983. SFC Kyoshi. Very cool! I was at Fort Dix in '86. SSG Maldonado. Never forget the faces of several other DI's, but not positive on their names anymore.

Now a question. We see the $19 a month figure used on a whole lot of charity commercials on TV. Is there something special about that amount? $19 a month was publicized so much by wounded warrior that it became an easier "sell" amount for others.

Nittany Lion, I spent 27 months in Turkey, Did you spend any time in that wonderful place. I can still smell the Yeni Harmons. Elkaholic, what speed of morse did you have to pass? I had to pass 18 wpm. Spade, I see you are intending to go to the UP trappers convention. If it's in Escanaba I might try and get there. I had to edit this due to mixed up names as you can see the morse affects the brain. Gary J

Gary J: Spent a tour at Det 4, Synop, even tho only a medic, had to have a TSSI clearance, I think I still have the card, that was issued, that you gave the hospital for anything that required you to be put under

1966--Fort Knox A-93(basic) Sgt. Boyd/1st. platoon. Then late 66-to Just before Christmas Fort Leonard Wood(AIT) 62E-30(Finish Grader). Then became 62E20(operate anything with an engine in Engineers) in Nam. Jeep to 10 ton tractor trailer(anything rubber tire), Cat D7 & HD16 dozers, earth mover(290M Michigan), front end loader and anything else needed to get earth moved. That's why in my unit 46th. Engineers D-Company, my platoon was called the EM platoon.
Seems you don't forget those details. Like my US number.

1981 Lackland AFB, TX, Sgt Chase, female TI. She would get so mad at us and yell to the point she lost her voice, which would make her even more ticked off. Too funny!! Went to Military Police Investigation School down in Fort McClellan, AL. Great course, the Crime Scene test was 6 to 7 hours long depending on how long you took to process your crime scene room. Then it took a week to grade all the packages to find out if you failed any of the steps. I was born in an Air Force Hospital, Richards-Gebaur AFB, MO, and have worked for the Air Force my entire life since I was 17. 58 now and still working for the Air Force. Been a heck of a ride, I'm now a GS-13. Not bad for a High School dropout.

Ask him where he went to boot camp and ask him what was the name of his drill instructor. If he pauses or stutters, he ain't legit. No one forgets those two items. I actually don't recall my drill instructor's name. Boot camp is easy - Amarillo, TX - 53 years ago. i forget mine too, great lakes '97

Keep your DD-214. . I contacted the Air Force a few years ago and was told they had no record of me or the time period I served; said all records were destroyed in a fire. Without a copy of my DD-214 I would probably have lost all VA benefits. thats why i filed mine in my county as soon as i got it along wit hkeeping acopy. now if i loose it or it gets destroyed the county always has it. along those lines, good luck geting your medical records if ever needed!!!! luckily someone told me to keep mine when i got out so I did
