Yes, cast, Safety Pin chain, but it was used on early P.S. Manufacture traps.

Looking through my guide, it looks like "Cast Safety Pin" chain? I think? From what I have read the closes to a date... my guess is pre-1882?

It is interesting all the different chains used for traps over the years. The pictures in my guide are not very clear or detailed. Thanks for sharing, great picture.

Looking forward to hear what trap it was used on and how old.

The only trap I have with that type of chain is a PSW #1 slick pan.

I've had 3 slick pan PS&W traps with that chain set up, 2-#0's and 1-#1

You bring up a good point Dale. Has any one ever seen a PS MFG #1 1/2? I haven't.

I don't collect P.S. Manufacture traps per say, so I am just guessing but I assume that because of the early date of the P.S. Manufacture traps, 1850's - 1860's that there likely are no #1 1/2's or only a few latter in production. Up until 1864, there were not any #0 or #1 1/2 Newhouse traps. They were added to the Newhouse line sometime between 27 June 1864 and June 1865.
