Went out today and started closing snare lines and pulling some gear on the other half of my line. Pretty happy when I rolled up on this otter set Last year I went to set a snare on a creek between 2 old beaver lodges and punched through. I set it and pulled 3 otter out of it over the course of the season. This year I tried chipping a hole there and it was way to thick, took a step and sure enough punched through So I have been keeping it open waiting for them to come through, The other coni is there in case they decide to travel above the ice. Decided to make a quick run behind the house when I got home. They are calling for more weather, Sure enough picked up this pretty cross Aint rubbed a bit Coming back in today from the lakes I noticed depression in the lake and as I drove by it it was open water! Made me hung the bank a lot harder! Be safe out there guys!

We picked up about 2 inches of snow and then the wind kicked in, pretty much had to dig everything out today. Cut 1 set of yote track, so hopefully now that they have a hard pac to run on I will start connecting Checking otter sets I rolled up on the one that caught that last otter, all I could see from my trail was a hump and a disturbance, started walking in and cut mink tracks. Was feeling bummed for a split second then I wiped the snow away and there was Mr Otter Be safe out there guys! Nice! Picked up a double at that set huh? That's awesome. I wondered if you might get another one on that run

Well pretty much wrapped things up here, Still have a few snares out for yote and my otter sets. We got hammered pretty with some crappy weather that dumped about 2 ft of snow on my line, really wish we had that at the beginning of the season! Overall a good season Now it is time to start getting the fur ready for market and the tannery. Got a trip planned with JR here in the near future, sure that will be a blast Be safe out there guys!

Great ride along HFT. Way to rack up the cats.

Before I took off on my adventure with Howler I was backing my trailer in and my truck died right there in the drive way. While I was gone the wife got it in the shop and it was here when I got home Sunday. Went to hook up to my trailer, turned the key and sparks and smoke bellowed out from under the hood! So I got it back in the shop yesterday and called a buddy to play taxi for me. We picked up another 4 or so inches of snow and with the warmer daytime temps the rec riders are out in force! On one section of creek that I run in years past there has always been otter sign on top of the ice. This year I have not seen any and figured they had to be running under it. About a month ago a crevice opened up right on the side of my trail. There are no other openings for like a mile and a half so I decided to drop a 220 over it along with a shot of hooligan oil. I rolled up on it today to see my sticks laying in my trail and a big disturbance and a trail leading away from the hole, and no trap! I had wrapped and tie wired that puppy to a log and for the life of me have no idea how it came undone. So I followed the trail to the base of a tree and there it was, another otter Not the biggest but sure has some pretty fur! Probably going to pull everything next check, calling for another big dump of snow and warmer temps. Be safe out there guys!

I cable all otter sets. They are tornadoes, even in coni's.
Just doing what I want now.
