My partner suggested a snare configuration and said we should use annealed nuts for the cable ends. I tried whacking them with a hammer and the results weren’t pretty.

It dawn on me I have some threaded, probably steel, end stops (?) that can be more easily hammered, but I’m down to 2 dozen and the place I bought them from is no longer in business. Does anybody know where I can get threaded metal (not aluminum) stops that will fit 5/64 or 3/32 cable?

Thanks in advance

Snare shop in IA sounds like their deer stops.

Buy some small steel nuts, heat them cherry red and let them cool slowly and they should them hammer down fine.

The problem likely is trying to pound them on a flat surface. You need a slight indentation made thats just big enough for your nut .

That is them. If I didn't have a swagger to use aluminum stops, these are all I'd use. I don't like the big flat stops you get when you hammer aluminum.

Does anyone have Rally Hess contact information? The Snareshop is out. Cumberlands only offers annealed nuts. Schmitt Enterprises doesn’t offer them.

They have to made for something else and just sold by suppliers for stops. Find their original use and you may find a very cheap source of them.

If you can't find what you need at your local hardware store your not looking hard enough.
I have a block of steel and a 2lb hammer and I have no problem smashing any small nut down to where It holds perfectly.

Snare shop was out of them. Rally Hess had them and he was a blast to talk to. I bought a couple hundred from him and will probably buy more in the future
