You will need a good size computer with a load of memory space to do your editing on and more than just an iPhone to record your videos on. Sound is a big issue, you will need a dead cat microphone set up. Do your research when you buy a camera. Cold is your enemy, I suggest you buy at least an extra battery or two for whatever you buy. I think Bernie gave you some solid advice Jim.
Filmed that video with my Samsung galaxy s20. It films at 5k, which is higher than a lot of stuff. Bought a new gopro hero 9 black. It films up to 4k and limitless settings. Those two will have to do for now. I'll play with those before I buy a something more. I got like seven batteries for the go pro lol. As for editing, a decent gaming computer with a steady state drive and a ton of ram will be needed. I am looking for a decent one now. Pretty pricey!

Hutchy, another potential issue will be uploading videos to YouTube, it takes a good internet connection to upload videos and render them. In my case I end up having to going to Star Bucks in NB to unload. You may want to test your internet to see how well it can handle uploading. It can take hours or minutes depending on the system you have. Jim Ya, uploading that one took about five mins on my work internet. My wife's parents have unlimited giga high speed in Toronto, and entire movies take two minutes to download. If my work connection doesn't work out, I can take them down there and do several at once. Just saw one of your videos recently. Pretty cool

Don't need a solid state drive. They're nice and all but not required. I just got a dell g5 gaming pc mainly for video editing. No issues editing video with it using powerdirector. Only thing is it doesn't have an SD card reader or cd drive. Cool. And that's good to hear about not needing an SSD necessarily

As long as you're not doing hours worth of videos it's definitely not needed. Plus the size of a SSD vs a HDD is smaller for the same price. They are faster though. My brother in law is in Ottawa, and is a huge gamer/ tech guy. I have him looking for a good used desktop for me. He is going to test it all out, and make sure its solid. I was looking, and desktops are available for half the price of laptops, they have way better numbers and components, have replaceable components, and last longer it seems. I told him my budget and hes going to give me some options. used market for 2 and 3 year old desktops is awesome. Plus, he said he could start with something dirt cheap, and just build off it to make exactly what I need. I wish I was more of a tech guy...but I don't find it fun at all. Plus I am off to do a week of winter camping/ trapping guiding and what I make off that trip should pay for it.

Quite frankly you are exactly what everybody would expect. If you are really trying to make a difference and grab a large, uneducated audience shave off the beard, get a man bun up on your head, a more flamboyant pair of sunglasses and go with a pink camo shirt.
