Thought some might enjoy pic. Testing a friend's bait. 43 thirty second videos with about 13 different visits in 6 days. No feed yard or dead pile within miles. [Linked Image]

I’d say his bait is working. Having a good population helps, lol. Never seen more than one at a time on camera, and that’s every couple to three weeks.

Ive test a fair amount of stuff and his always comes out on top. I just recently started testing on cameras and wanted to see how they react to his on video so I have a baseline to compare to. We've talked about him going into business but he hasn't pulled the trigger.

I will add we got a good population but this isn't normal or I wouldn't have post pic. I just thought 5 coyotes on video was cool. Might get a friend to put all the videos together and load on to YouTube. Some interesting things in 20 minutes of coyotes working a set

Guess two sets there would’ve been under setting, lol.

Lol yes I might have to rethink my strategy. I will say this after watching about 30 minutes of coyotes working sets in the last week. And putting in hundreds of tests sets in in the last 3 years, I have about as many questions as I do answers. I can guarantee I wouldn't have caught every coyote that smelled the set in the videos no matter how many sets I had out. I also see some things that leads me to theories that may not line up with every thing we think goes on.

So I assume that If your testing bait you should be doing It during the time your actually going to be using It?

My thinking is, if they eat it today they will eat it tomorrow

But If your testing In July your test may not be credible if they just walk by It since they aren't hungry. So I guess what I'm saying Is It waste of time and bait.

I test year around and my findings so far is if it's a great lure or bait it's great year around. Remember every one's says gland lure after the first of the year. Look at date on pic. This is a bait in February. I've tested this bait Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. I've seen this bait catch 200 plus coyotes in 2 weeks on one guys line.

We have lots of coyotes because we have lots of food for them, our coyotes are rarely hungry and they have the fat to prove it. Mr Jamison made the comment to me when he was here trapping that it would take a retarded coyote to go hungry in this country. And there aren't any of those left because that's the ones I catch. Lol

Then would just lure be more effective then bait?

Good question. I lean a little bit towards a good lure is pretty good here but I know guys here that wouldn't set a trap without bait down the hole and by their catches I wouldn't argue with them even a little. I will say the bait being test here is what I would call a matrix formulation, it covers all the bases in my opinion.

In other words your bait Is actually a BAIT/ LURE. It's not like your just shoving a just plain chipmunk down the bait hole.

Correct. Though if I could get a whole horse down a dirt hole I might get the same results. Lol
