I'm getting on to an age where it's prudent to start thinking about stuff like this and something came across my FB page the other night that really got me to thinking about it. I don't much like the idea of being stuck inside a furnace but I also don't like the idea of being injected with a bunch of chemicals. I'm thinking about a "green" burial. No embalming, plain pine box like in the old west movies. I've got to check on the legality of that in this state but I think it's doable. I want to get my ducks in a row so others aren't burdened with it. Have you given it much thought?

Burnt and scattered. Eventually, there wont be enough spots for burial...at least
by when im hoping to go, in my opinion. Use me as fertilizer for what ive left behind.

I honestly don't care, whatever my family wants.. I would tell them to go cheap, cremate and dump my ashes on the farm.

I am going to see if the undertaker knows a good taxidermist.

Yup, cheapest possible. Pay the least amount of people possible.

I have a particular song I want played at my funeral that wouldn't "fit" for a cremation so burial for me.

I'm torn. Cheap is nice but a place to go for your loved ones to grieve for the first few years is nice. But let's face it after that they won't go to the cemetery but maybe once a year.

So maybe burnt and buried/ scattered on the farm with a marker?

I wanted to move my son and start a family cemetery at the farm but the government restrictions and 300k needed to be put in a trust for future maintenance extinguished that really quickly.

Posco I am of the exact same thinking. I do wood working and have thought of making my own coffin. Don't plan on dying for 50 years but you never know. Thought it might creep my family out though. I have told them I want it to be as cheap as possible and will be very disappointed if it is not.

Always told the kids and wife, have my ashes loaded into shotgun shells and have the son in laws fire me off where I hunted ducks and trapped.

Not gonna worry about it yet. I turn 68 next week and I don't even consider myself middle-aged yet. Still have the mind of an eight-year-old and the beard of a twelve-year-old.
