I’ll admit to not paying attention on the fur markets lately. But, I was on Iowa Trap Talk this morning and it’s being reported Groenwald just bought a LOT of coon from Fur Harvesters. One poster said he felt it was the old, stale stuff and the original poster said it was at $2-$3. Has anyone on Tman heard anything like this?

Market Upturn: Strong Demand And Rising Fur Prices

The long-awaited upturn in the fur market is finally happening, with auctions reporting high demand and rising prices.
In Denmark, Kopenhagen Fur had to extend the auction by two additional days due to very active buys and a considerable amount of request coming In the last moment.
After some challenging years, the prices of mink pelts are rising, with the action reporting that the average skin price increased by 79 per cent compared to a similar offering in September 2020.
Sales percentage for hit a staggering 100% for the first time in a while also indicates that market confidence is growing.
In Russia, Sojuzpushnina and Ruspushnina auctions in February also showed confident results selling close to 85 % of wild sable collections. On average, the price increased by 25 % compared to the results from last December auction.
The fur market had been expecting some adjustment due to the sharp drop in production after Danish mink farming was destroyed due to coronavirus outbreaks on farms.
International auctions are still taking place online due to ongoing travelling restrictions and the corona pandemic. Yet, international buyers' interest is growing as the reduced productions mean fewer skins on the market. At the same time, retailers are reporting about a very strong retail season in Asia and North America and some part of Europe because of the cold weather.
Highers prices and higher sales are the first signs of a recovery for the market that had been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
Many predict that the upward trend with continues with the next Saga furs action at the beginning of March.

I think this might be old news. FH has been moving goods, not sure to whom or where.

I don’t recall if I’ve read the remarks above here or on another site or trapper’s mag. It’ll be good when it happens. In the meantime, I’m not interested in seeing the coon I shipped to Fur Harvesters a year ago being given away. If it happened, I’m not looking forward to getting that check.

So has the border opened yet. Or are they still planning on just a Internet sale?

Wild fur would no doubt benefit from a live inspection/auction.
That said the last couple european auctions have seen a steady increasing price trend.

Yeah, something happened. Some idiot shut down a pipeline and it is having a very positive effect on Russian finances. Then that idiot gave China a blank check for the materials for a fleet of electric vehicles. Hope you feel good that your vote is helping fur prices.

If a buyer was buying coons for 2-3 or even 5 dollars why would they need to spend a great deal of money flying halfway around the world and paying hotel expenses etc. to look at them. If they have been sized and grades as in the past, buyers should have a very solid idea of what those lots look like.

Ya and Groney Is offering dressed goods why would any buyer buy green fur sight unseen.

Grony is having an auction in China with dressed fur, be interesting to see how that goes.

Will those results be published or top secret?

It would be interesting to see. Especially if we all know they will be auctioning off $3 raccoon.

No way they will let that info out. That's not part of the rat wagon give away program.
