I got one this fall, I can tell it helps as I do feel slightly better but not a home run for me, when I went and did the home study I was bad enough that they wanted me to come in for a in house sleep study at the hospital.. I use the nasal pillow type and find that to be ok, and I don’t have a hard time falling asleep. But I am always waking up many times a night because I am wrapping up in hose or I move enough to cause nasal pillow to leak and that wakes me up. Also I do use moisture but I get very dry in mouth that I have to have a cough drop either in the middle of night or when I go to bed. If I put one in it stays till morning. Not sure how good that is on my teeth. I think if I could find a way to not get woke up by hose and strap or dry mouth I think I would feel way better
Any ideas or thoughts? You should contact the CPAP supplier and ask for help. I think if your mouth is dry its coming open in the night and you need a chin strap. If the mask is leaking easily you need to find one that is a better fit. A longer hose will help too so you can move more, although if you have a comfortable mattress you'll toss and turn less, may be time for a new one. ??? Just a couple thoughts. I rarely wake up in the night at all, just deep REM sleep. If someone wakes me up it feels like being woken from the dead. lol

Thanks Adc.

I will elaborate some in your thoughts..
Yes I should contact cpap company, I think a chin strap may help, I do worry it may be more uncomfortable?
I have lots of hose, and I think if I could find a way to strap to top of head it may be more out of way than coming to my nose from below? I do slope on side and it’s easy to twist the head strap some to get leakage
I have a good mattress, I'm told you get used to the chin strap. My brother in law has one, no troubles. I do have my machine at the top of the bed on my side, thought of that after I ht submit, lol. I have gone through several styles of masks for it, https://www.1800cpap.com/respironics-comfortgel-blue-cpap-nasal-mask-without-headgear that cheapo is actually my favorite. I have a beard and mustach so its tougher to get one that works good but that one does.

I have a Goat- tee.....and wear the full face mask...it’s just like wearing a paint mask for me. The trick to a good seal...is to have a loose fitting mask...sounds bass ackwarks ...but it works.

The battery model will run for at least two nights without a recharge, maybe three. No, they do not cost thousands - maybe $360:I think. The company name is Transcend, and they have sales from time to time. If you call them, don’t take their first offer. In a week or two they may call you bake with a better deal. I would not get the battery model as my only machine. Get it for travel or camping and as a backup.
There maybe be other companies who make them as well. Check the website for Second Wind also.
Someone suggested the sleep study is only to sell products. Not so. The tests produce a graph much like an EKG. The graph is sent to your insurance company. They now have a home kit or even a cell phone device to do a study. My wife did it. She now has a mouth guard that our dentist made for her and it stopped her apnea. She only had apnea occasionally, not every night. Her case was very mild.
You may PM me if you have more questions. Charles

I have a good mattress, I'm using the nasal pillow type mask and the air hose is on the top of the head gear. Air comes in from the top, then down through the sides of the mask tubing which is hooked to the nasal pillow part.. The hose connection is swiveled so you can sleep on your back or side etc. The mask kind of reminds me of a Tella Tubby cartoon, but it works for me.

I tried one and finally gave up. I have a bad back and neck and can't stay in one position to long. In about 30 minutes I would have the cords wrapped around me two or three times. Also every time I went from my back to my side I would break the seal on the mask. I have a full beard and that could have been part of the problem with the seal leak. I know people who swear by them just not me.

Don't think it has been mentioned but your insurance company or Medicare does cover your machine as long as you use it. Reports are sent on your history of use. It was not 100% for me and I do not know why.

Using a smaller pillow help me a great deal with the mask breaking the seal.

The So Clean directions say to wait an hour before using after cleaning. It helps get rid of the smell. Longer the better!

I'm a side sleeper also.Used the nasal pillows since I started using CPAP,I had no instruction so I wasn't aware of different size pillows.I was frustrated with it all and about gave up until a BIL told me what the problem was.Finding the right size made all the difference in the world.
