I have pulled 4 out of this small pond already and I am thinking I have one more large beaver left. It has been two weeks and all I am getting is a big middle finger from this son of a gun. The land owner even brought the track hoe in and dug our a dam on the spill way this week. This caused a BEAUTIFUL 11” Channel going to an over flow pipe. When I got there the next day the pipe was plugged. I tore it out and set a 330 in the channel, I mean this looked text book perfect!!!! I got there today, and he turned my conibear into the start of a new dam! Any ideas guys I’m at my wits end.

I has similar situation with a pond or lake beaver, actually 2 of them. Caught the low hanging fruit using BG traps and lure, which likely didn't help as I feel they may have been seen even though I ran the traps the next day. Afterwards nothing but an occasional stopped up culvert. Ended up with 4 footholds at the culvert but water was so variable at that site that I missed or at least had a trap sprung with nothing. Went for weeks and no sign anywhere and I was getting spillover on dam site the whole time where I had 2 footholds on headwater side of spillover. We got an unusual lengthy freeze and after thaw, still nothing. Finally about week after last ice melted I caught 2 in two days at the spillover on the dam. All in all, last traps stayed in place off and on for 6 weeks before finally connecting, both at blind sets.

Yep,,, Leave him alone for 2 or 3 weeks then slip back in and offer him a few blind footholds at his own castor mounds and crawl outs with no lure.
