Well, my 2004 Tacoma went on the blink. The frame broke in half so I had to get rid of it! I put it on Craigslist on parting out and got $2000 cash for it. It had 278000 miles on it but still ran like a new one. I called Toyota when I found the first crack and they said the recall went out the day before, I’m thinking Sure it did!! Well anywho, I bought a newer one on Friday a 2011 Tacoma! Did I say I like Tacoma’s!! This makes my fourth one

grayfox54...don't mean to doubt you, but that looks like a 2nd generation Taco. The first year of the 2nd gen was 2005. Just curious, thanks.

Sorry, that's a pic of the new one, not the 2004. Have a 2008 myself, great trapping vehicle.

My first car/ truck was an 05 Tacoma. I upgraded to a 2014 last summer and couldn’t be happier with it. Nice looking truck you got there. Is the frame replaced yet on the new one?

I'm looking for a used one..friend has run Toys for a long time, and he said to avoid the TRD and look for one with a 4.0 with locking diff. What do you Tacoma fans think

I have a 99 that I just put a set of injectors in

297,000 miles and I am planning on getting to 500,000 or more

New trucks are stupid high AND I can't do much more than change the oil myself on the newer ones

I drove a 94 for 7 years. Let's say I was young and didn't know better about truck pulling capacity and vehicle weight vs load weight ect ....

I bought it with just over 100k and sold it with 320k. I used it like a 4 wheeler and like a 3/4 ton.

Very frequently it got loads of logs as high as the cab roof and pulled 16' trailer loaded of them and brush when I was doing tree work. 100 bails of hay on that 16 footer and I took off a couple loads of scrap that were 6 tons. That scrap was crazy. 45mph to the floor down hill 35mph on the flat. Do I need to even talk about my fellow motorist friendly waves and gestures behind me while going up hill;).

It was not a go the the grocery, work, and home truck. It did that to but it got used harder than anything I have ever seen before or since. I will never be able to abuse one like that again. All the places I used to hunt and get off road are no longer accessible. Add in I'm older and wiser and would uses a bigger truck for most of that now.

I also don't know if the new ones will hold up as well? I did get 32 bails of hay on my dad's 2012 a few times last year and it handled it and a full load of split wood well. But the wood was only loaded yo the top of the bed and split I can't get it to stack near as high.

I know the old one I had was one tough truck.

I believe most Tacomas have the TRD package, this one is a TRD Sport, 4.0 and locking diff

Alright, if it doesn’t yet it will some day. They are all getting the recall they just can’t do them all at once

The TRD Off Roads have an electronic locking rear diff.,with 3.73 gears. Up until 2008-2009 the TRD Sports had a Mechanical limited slip rear end, with a clutch pack system, those are in demand still. Kazuma made an aftermarket one that was an upgrade to the springs,400 lb instead of 200 lb,and 4 spider gears instead of two. Those run around 450-500 if you can locate one. The newer Tacomas, except the TRD Off Road now have a traction control device, that you can disable if needed to. It works off the ABS system so that when one wheel looses traction,it is transferred to the other side.

I have a 2011 Tacoma with 398,000 miles on it. I spend about $1000/yr on upkeep and repairs but IMO much better than a car payment. When it goes I may get a used Tundra just because I could use a bigger truck. But I've been very pleased with my Tacoma.
