I have watched several you tube videos on beaver skinning and fleshing. Definitely gives some insight on what to expect! Lots of info there and in the archives here. Years of hard knock knowledge on this site! It is great that the trappers will share it!! THANKS TO ALL!!

My first beaver sets are IN! Put out 5 sets total, 3 on the main dam area and 2 on a smaller dam that is getting started just downriver of the main one. High hopes for success!
Had a “minor” incident with the first 330. Close call but no damage done! I learned to make sure the spring latch doesn’t come off when you squeeze the jaws to set it and to put the jaw safety on quickly.

Good luck. Nothing gets me more hunting, fishing and trapping permission than taking care of someone’s beaver problem. Took me quite awhile to learn to set beaver runs with body grips effectively. A guy to watch on youtube that helped me was 330 maniac. Share some pics

Well the first check went good. I had a good sized beaver by a front foot in one of the B&L 44’s on a drowner rod. He had pulled the bottom of the rod out of the mud and was on the bank this morning! I got him dispatched ok and he weighed 47lbs. From first knife cut to final nail on the board was 3 hrs!
The little ‘beaver beetles’ are gross! No one talks much about those things!!

They are harmless though!! Plus they do not like your skin or hair so do not infest anything.

I checked a few spots yesterday hoping to start my season out but no deal. Still have ice here, just not the good kind. Good luck!
