When I first started trapping, I said that I would never beaver trap unless needed. Well, I bought land this winter that has beaver on it so I ordered 6 No-BS traps to go along with my 5-330s. I got slide locks and plan on making 1/2" rods next week.

My question is about trap placement on castor mound sets. What is the set back and how to I position the trap?

Thanks. I hope to clean them up so they stop cutting down the young aspen.

I go about a hand width off center and put it 2-3" under water for the foothold. Don't be afraid to use the 330's for castor mounds too.

For front foot catch like dylan said 2-3'' under water offset, for a back foot catch i went from water edge finger tip to elbow and set trap about elbow depth also offset from center.
