Is there a certain way to board and dry beaver for a fur blanket?
Or do you still board them round

For boarding raw beaver skins, board them oval to the standard.
If you want to make or get a blanket made,go thru your dried skin pile and select the pelts that are the same size, colour and primeness.
Send these to the tanner-depending on the size of the blanket you want and the size of the pelts you will use you could need anywhere from 16 to 25 skins.
When the skins come back from the tanner do all your repair work to each skin, cutting out and sewing all defects in the fur and leather.

I like to use a hexagonal pattern to cut the beaver after blocking out. This gives a nice pattern to the blanket and will maximize the use of the skins-there will be very little wasteage from each skin. The pieces left over will be triangular shaped and easy to sew into a plate.

For this pattern the beavers should be blocked by making cuts from each leghole out to the edge of the pelt, and then blocking in the square type fashon.

You dont cut triangles, just one cut out from the leghole to the edge of the pelt.
The triangle forms when blocking.
