Has anyone ever used feral cat for the meat base in predator bait? I have access to some ferals and thought I'd try to make up my own bait this year, think of buying a bait solution, although unsure which one to go with so far, and also curious if there is anything else I could add to it. I'm assuming commercial bait solutions generally already come with sodium benzoate included?

Feral or bobcat are both good bases.
Some solutions come with SB and others don’t.
You must Ask the makers.
I know that Jameson’s and Blackies and Dobbins and Locklear and Weiser’s and Marsyadas all have worked for my customers. Just put each in the Search box atop your page and those websites will pop up.
Most of them will be in the dozen or so trapping supply catalogs hopefully already on your desktop.
No. You don’t need to add anything else.

I've been reading some, but it definitely is a lot to absorb, definitely going to be trial and error, I was leaning towards dobbins or locklears, but open to trying anything. Planning to grind the meat, and definitely planning to do some testing with cameras before season

IMO cat meat is not a preferred food for fox coyotes or bobcats. Bobcats kill them. sometimes coyotes and fox kill them. They will eat them before they starve to death. Its the stuff you add that gets them pawing around the set when you use cat meat.

Go set some different chunks of various animals out in places you know predators will find it. You will be surprised (or maybe not) which critters get the most attention.

I've used Dobbins and Marsyadas bait solutions with
great success on fox. Never used feral cat meat, my best meat base seems to be woodchuck, deer, beaver, and mice. In that order. Have a bobcat meat base aging I have not used yet.

Woodchuck was going to be my next option, can get plenty of them in no time over the summer

I have some bait I made up with feral cat and a little castor. It works OK for the most part but have had better luck with horse, muskrat or pocket gopher.

Horse meat bait for me, bobcat is a ok change up but wouldn't be my first choice.

I agree^^^^
Bobcat meat was the last meat eaten by penned coyotes when I fed them. Beaver meat was consumed first, followed by grey fox, then bcat. Sometimes the cat meat would lay at their feet for a couple days b4 it was eaten.
