My hands are mostly palm. I have short, strong thick fingers and very wide, strong palms. I need at least an XL to have a chance of getting my hands in the gloves, but the fingers are always to long. Not all XL gloves are wide enough for my hands.
I'm built weird. If I had normal length legs I would be 6' 4", but I'm only 5' 9" . I'm 60" around the shoulders. I have to turn sideways to go through a normal size doorway. A lot of people think I'm into powerlifting from the way I look. I am very strongly built.
I basically got a large Scandinavian torso and frame, with short, stocky, Sicilian arms and legs.
Keith Forgot your shoe size....Lol 7 1/2 EEEE. I have a big head too. I don't know what my hat size is, but I have to leave most ball caps on the last peg or unhooked. I'm a freak. Keith

XL, I have to have pretty tough leather gloves for the Mill work. The ends of red pine logs are like porky quills the dryer they are the worse they are. I get Plainsman leather gloves at Sam's Club 2 pair $20.00 I get them wet the first time I wear them, that takes your hand shape. When dry again, Neatsfoot oil or Mink oil rub. I get about 2 months daily work use. Says they are made from Cabretta leather, whatever that is. Best I have found so far. At the Post Mill gloves are second only to safety toe boots, and really just as important.

Used to be most XL’s would fit but now it’s XXL. Think gloves have gotten smaller because I don’t think my hands have gotten bigger at 66 years old. Leather gloves definitely have to be XXL. Your hands didn't get bigger... Chinese children can't sew for s---. Mike

Here is another glove question ....not trying to hijack the thread but are there work gloves made that last longer than ten days ?? I spend more on gloves than I do on boots some last better than others but , if the job is tossing split fire wood , lucky to get 5 days I wear a bunch of these https://www.farmandfleet.com/produc...er-split-unlined-work-gloves-3-pack.htmlmy other problem is that I seem to wear out one glove but not the other

Bogmaster sells (still, i think) gloves at the trapping conventions. He claimed most trappers wore the larger sizes.
The only thing i know for sure is no one makes gloves big enough for OJ

7 1/2 EEEE. I have a big head too. I don't know what my hat size is, but I have to leave most ball caps on the last peg or unhooked. I'm a freak. Keith head 8 or 8 1/4 any hat I can find in the store I can open the adjuster all the way up and it might just get on my head but it won't be deep enough to stay there very long 3XLT or 4XLT in a button up shirt need looong sleeves to cover these ape arms 46x32 pants 16EEEE shoes 6' 2" weighing in at 285 currently and of course XXL gloves my grandpa farmed and ran a masonry business for most of his life didn't wear gloves cause he would wear a pair out in a day by the time he was 60 grandma had to get the buttons on his dress shirt his fingers were too big and callused to get the buttons any more. I would like to keep my dexterity so I use gloves it doesn't surprise me trappers have larger than average hands , trapping builds a fair amount of hand strength.

Rex I still sell gloves and choppers. As you stated most are XL and more and more take XXl. And the deerskin gloves are real comfortable' Though size varies with each different type. The XL elbow length choppers run big and fit most guys ,and some other types a XXl would be needed. Tom

Well it's obvious that trappers trend toward large hands... the question is, does trapping make the hands large or does trapping attract men with large hands?? Which caused which?
Kinda like the chicken/egg question...

Ya want a couple of dozen " left " ones let me know its mostly the middle finger on the right glove that wears out index and middle finger on the right hand if I know I am tossing a lot of wood I will put duct tape on those 2 fingers and sometimes the thumb then it can be replaced to keep them going longer any lefties out there need thoroughly sweat thru gloves with a strong odor of bar & chain and two stroke gas , just let me know
