I'm in the preliminary steps on heading north to catch an artic fox. It's the last Alaskan species on my lifetime list to catch. One will do the trick. Then it's back to the lower 48 for the final six species on that list. Both my children live in Alaska. One in Eagle River and the other just outside Wasilla. At any rate, I'd appreciate any guidance on sets, bait, lures or anything else you can think of that might help. I was at Prudhoe Bay the season before last for a period of five days and struck out on the white foxes. Thanks, Jim

Arctic fox are easy. One of the most productive sets ive seen is a piece of bait frozen to a 330 trigger then one spring stuck into the snow. doesnt get any simpler and it works.

You are on a cool mission. I'm rooting for you. What animals are remaining on your list?

One of my buddies ran 330's in boxes, fish as bait, and one of those long surveyor stakes as a marker. Gets pretty windy up there and many of his sets would get drifted in when weather hit. He caught quite a few that I skinned out for him I believe he was about 50 miles west of the bay. That sounds like a great way to make sets and still be able to find them. I need to take a couple weeks off one winter and go catch some.

That's a really cool mission All33. I wish you luck. I'd love to see pics of your taxidermy collection too.
Boco couldn't catch a cold. But if he did, it would be Top Lot.

On your mission are you doing all fur bearers or just the ones in the Americas?

Arctic fox are easy. One of the most productive sets ive seen is a piece of bait frozen to a 330 trigger then one spring stuck into the snow. doesnt get any simpler and it works. There is a guy on the CNTA forum that catches hundreds of arctic fox ,he uses a set similar to what you describe Ryan.He traps out of Arviat.
