I seen a video of a guy using 1/2” emt conduit with a nut welded. Straight piece looks to be about 3” long. I will try to load the video (idk if I can). This is on a snare support, it seems like a really cool System but I can’t wrap my head around the driver. Any thoughts? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ebisfUqBYAc&feature=youtu.be

I watched the video you linked but it didnt show a driver. He has another video that is twice as long and must show it there.

My bad dirty, I linked the wrong video. He has another one standing in the same spot, he just uses the conduit anchor not the supper steaks. I’m wanting to use them for beaver, so I want a cheaper alternative to super steaks, in case I can’t retrieve them for what ever reason. Maybe if prices were better, I wouldn’t mind but right now I am counting pennies lol. I have tried making pogos but I end up cussing before I get the dang things not to slide off the driver, especially on or near dams where I may encounter sticks(?).

You make a driver out of rod that is just smaller than the inside diameter of your anchor then weld that same conduit on the rod so it acts as a stopper. If you want to be fancy you can start with a bigger ros and then later it to fit the anchor.

Iowa,
If you're in dams with sticks, run a ten foot snare with loop on the end. Take about a 3 inch diameter stick and 8 ft long drive/push it in vertically in the dam, take another similar stick and push it in along side the first one at a say 45° angle, try to make an "x"with the two sticks and have the"x" below water level, loop your terminal end of snare around the "x" .

You could always use 8-10 ft, 5/8 inch diameter drowning rods. We caught 20+ beavers with snares and drowning rods this spring. 40-inch snares and a one-way slider makes for many caught beavers.

Tsouth87, that's what I thought you talking about when you first posted. Now this thread reappeared, I watched videos.
I've been using black pipe w/nut welded for 15-20 seasons. Homemade drivers with T-top. I have two stainless drivers son-in-law made for me.
Here's what I use...

Do those always turn in the hole? Or do they sometimes come come right back up the hole without “setting”? On the ones I have made I had to cut at a 45, but I didn’t weld a nut on the side

How did you attach the chain if you didn't weld a nut or something similar on the side?

Yes, they hold. I never pulled one out of ground unless using a pick.

Awesome pictures thank you. I made some with one end mashed and welded, and the opposite end I cut on a 45. I welded a chain link directly to the pipe on the short side of the pipe. I welded the link towards the point. It sets nearly every time. The only times it doesn’t is if my driver wedges into the pipe. These work great, just time consuming to make.
