I saw no hunting purple in TSC and had never heard of it in 64 yrs. Turns out it is applicable in many states. It is a nice color to paint rocks!
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Pa just approved purple paint (in the lat few years) as an alternative to posted signs.
Timber companies and game lands have been marked with blue and white paint for a long time.
Eh...wot?

It's a lot easier and faster to splash blazes on trees than it is to hang signs. The paint is more durable too.
It's also less expense to landowners and/or land managers.
Eh...wot?

Purple is the state color in kansas. Half the state is painted purple. And the rest is jayhawkers! Don't pay no attention to either one! The rage is painting corner posts and gate posts purple in Ks. I just ask like normal, most just use it to scare ya off. It was originally supposed to mean, "don't bother to ask", but I've found they do it so people won't bother them all the time.

Here, Orange paint is a marker for Gamelands. Purple is private lands.

I've never known what the purple paint is for. I have seen it a few times while hunting public. I just figured it was something to do with logging.
What good does painting the trees do if people don't know what it means? Ignorance of the law is no excuse but if you live where purple paint marking is not the law, it is more understandable. Where it is a legal posting method, it is in the Hunting Regulations booklet and it also shows the correct method of marking a property. Definitely not as easy to deface as it is to take down a sign.

Its been around here for a few years. Nearest i can tell is its for people that can't read. Literacy seems to come and go around the hunting seasons. What about the people that are color blind?
