Hate to ask mechanic question have a 1994 4cyl. That is running like bucking horse. New fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, air filter, and completely dist. Garage has run scan on it shows nothing. Doesn't matter cold, warm or hot engine, doesn't do it all the time.

Tps or iac possibly. Try cleaning both. Although if its already out you may as well replace. Thats also a symptom of a fuel pump going bad but id bet its Tps assuming theres no weird noises from the fuel tank area.

Hate to ask mechanic question have a 1994 4cyl. That is running like bucking horse. Need more info. Describe the bucking in detail , please New fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, air filter, and completely dist. Was this done pre or post problem and who did the work ? Garage has run scan on it shows nothing. OBD#1 codes may not show you the problem as good as newer vehicles equipped with OBD#2 computers Doesn't matter cold, warm or hot engine, doesn't do it all the time. This is helpful , problem is sporadic. Do you see a difference at different RPM 's ?

94 doesn't have obd , you jump wires in diagnostic box then watch flashing light on dash it will then correspond to codes. I agree on needing more info ! 94 does have OBD , also called OBD#1. It doesn't have OBD#2 which was mandated in most vehicles in 1996. OBD#1 can on some vehicles be accessed by jumping some wires at the diagnostic port under the hood and watching the dash lamp for a code. Some vehicles like early 80's Chryslers you could get the codes by turning the ignition key switch on/off 3 times and watching the dash lamp. Using a dedicated OBD#1 code reader will tell you more , however they are a bit dated and hard to find as they require about 30 different connectors to fit all different cars. They still sell them and a bit spendy due to all the connectors needed to fit all different cars. This is why they mandated going to OBD#2 in 1996. It brought everything to be the same which made it much easier to work on. On board dignostics can be traced all the way back to certain 1969 VW's equipped with fuel injection.

I've owned one of these trucks pretty much nonstop since I've had a drivers license. Put close to 400k on a couple before I got rid of them. They were real good reliable rigs, but I've had more trouble with the current one I own than all the others put together. People always say not to throw parts at the problem. But I would have probably replaced what you did to start, because they are generally overdue to have fuel filter, cap&rotor, plugs&wires, replaced anyways. I figure you've already ran some injector cleaner through it. I'd check tps, coil, then injectors and then possibly fuel pump, but it'll generally leave you, not just buck around.
I hate intermittent issues, they are hard to diagnose and if you take them to a shop they always run flawlessly.

Before you replace anything else like said check the gas, pump some into a clear jar and look for separated water mixed in with it.
