Went and saw this in the theatre when it came out in 1962. Never miss a chance to see it again when it is on TV. Lot of great actors. Tom

I saw it in the theaters when it first came out too. Watched it several times on TV after that. Definitely a great movie. They don't make many like that anymore.

Many of the locations filmed in the early part of the movie were shot nearby.
Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford came 31 yrs later, and filmed "The Fugitive"

As I recall, the movie starts with Karl Malden as the patriarch of quite a few of the main players.

I've never seen the movie but just read a blurb on it. Apparently it has no similarity to the book by A.B Guthrie by the same name.
I must admit if I saw the movie start with Jimmy Stewart............I would have turned it off. He has to be the worst actor ever....IMO What!!! He's one of my favorites. Loved him Shenandoah.

It's a Wonderful Life is a great movie starring Jimmy Stewart too. I watch it every year at Christmas time.

Jimmy Stewart had quite the war record. As a pilot in the second world war he flew Bombers against the Germans. My father was a gunner in one of those bombers, but none were flown by Stewart. My father spent the last 9 months of the war as a german prisoner of war after the bomber he was in was hit and he wad told to bail out.He ended up in a tree and hung there till the Germans took him prisoner. As a side note--in the 9 months as a prisoner,my father and his fellow prisoners had meat to eat--once,and that was after a guard dog got killed. Tom

Mike, there was even a huge velvet curtain that was opened to show the movie screen and closed again at intermission. Sure beat what you tube has to offer.--Those were the days my friend. Tom
