U always after me, junk yards have bad reputations, heard from number ppl for years, not saying they all rip u off but there junk yards around that well, if go to one, bigger well knowen better one, might be ok, I have heard more one story, junk yards are rough places, an knowen to be, sell for half price the parts an pay little, I know of 2 places right off an more junk yards then that that write bad checks to ones but cars in past, I tell them cash only , junk yards are ok sometimes for some parts , pacticurly body parts is about all I be interested in, I got motor for that old S10 yrs ago for $500 at knowen major junk yard an luck out as rebuilt not many yrs back but could easily got bad deal , just wondering if scrap metal is up ? $11.50 per hundred # dang it. I drove my old car to the Luana IA junkyard in January and got $190.00 for a 3400# car. Woulda been almost $400 bucks now if those are the current prices over here.

On the positive side the check didn't bounce. I've never had one bounce from a junkyard yet. I also don't know of anyone that's gotten a bad check from one and my uncle was a junker for years and went to 3 different ones.

Coonman, Alter scrap has a yard there and I highly doubt they're going to issue you a bad check. The owners are worth millions$$$. They've got locations all over the midwest. I'm a believer in j b weld, get some wire and tie the muffler up to keep the weight off your repair. Clean the bad spot as best you can and use original jb weld it will hold. I have used it on my old truck where donut gasget burn out. Couldn't replace because bolts damaged.
