I've heard 2 different comparisons when using coyote gland lure/urine at sets. I've heard to deters and attracts red fox. I like my sets to have potential at both. But looking through my notes last 2 seasons I noticed I never hit a fox on sets using coyote gland/urine. But have caught a number of coyotes on sets with fox gland/urine. Another guy in the area does catch fox with coyote gland lure. Does it even make a difference at all?

I have never noticed, I've used coyote, fox, and bobcat gland lure
And catch a mix of all k-9's and bobcat on various gland lures.
With urine I use coyote or fox, one thing I have noticed is bobcats
Work coyote urine harder than fox urine.

Let me sugar coat this

Just curious what fox you have in Nebraska? I know our Grey's will hit any gland lure, but seem to prefer bobcat. Our bobcats will hit anything as well, but catch most with bobcat gland lure. Coyotes seem to hit the red gland than coyote for some reason. Possums like them all equally!!!

I use more coyote urine in the fall and more fox urine later in the colder weather. I think the fox is louder and carries better. That said if I'm setting for a fox ill use fox urine for coyote ill use what ever's handy. for glands i use fox for fox there paranoid enough without smelling fresh coyote. for cat i like a good smear of cat gland but may add fox and or coyote gland to freshen up a set. hard to beat good fresh cat urine anytime for any of them but I don't go after cats until Christmas. coyote gland is attractive to those big boar coon. my records show more possum with coyote urine than with fox. could be the time of year/weather or trap placement type of sets etc, sorry i got a little of subject here didn't I. we were talking gland not urine.

Red fox gland early, coyote gland late. I catch reds and yotes in both. Mix a bit of mink in for giggles

Common sense catches alot of fur..
Pay homage to all you harvest..

We don't have many fox but I do prefer to use a gland lure to target them rather than bait like coyotes (I have let all the incidentals go the last couple seasons I could). Cat, coyote, fox, or whatever is in the bag. They're not finicky.
