Ian had a blast reeling it in and it came out of the water several times. Ian is fishing machine but he did get excited on this one almost 40" . Every now and then a 42" caught in our parts. That’s bigger than any pike I’ve ever caught. My two best were both 36 inches and weighed around 20 pounds.
Eh...wot?

I'm guessing a 20 pound fish, +/- 2 pounds...?

Congratulations to the young man, that's a nice fish no matter where it was caught.
NonPC northerns on Lake of the Woods tend to run about 18 19 pounds in the open water at 40 inches long. A bit more pre spawn.
I reckon your in the ballpark

Tell that young man...congratulations!!! That's a dandy northern. They are good eating too, once you learn to fillet the y-bones out of them.
