My oldest daughter came home today and will be here all summer. She spent the last two years in Vienna, Austria, prior to that two years in Abuja, Nigeria and will be spending the next two in Minsk, Belarus.
It is good to have her home again, even if only for a short while.
Eh...wot?

That's good news. I am about to send my daughter, she's my oldest, off to college. Trying to live each day this summer very slowly. Sending them off is one of the hardest things I've had to do. This one, Girl One, was struck hard with the wanderlust that runs in the paternal side of my family. She insisted on doing her first year of college 3,500 miles from home in London. There weren't any dry eyes after dropping her at the airport that day. Enjoy your daughter's company everyday you can this summer as I'm sure you will. Lugnut, may I ask what your daughter does that she gets to live/work in a wide variety of locations. Thanks She works for the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer.

Vienna is the crossroads of the world. You meet people from all over there. It is the worst food I have experienced while traveling. I think she will enjoy the Eastern Europeans. In my experience they are, for the most part, very nice people

Tom It's been my experience that things always seem more dangerous for those of us back home waiting for news from our loved ones. ( I was the one generally running off to places). BTW, that's is Ecuador with a "C". Spent two years there.
