I figure he means the "hole" under the trap where you bury the chain when staking it. Some people even bury grapple drags under the trap. . . they generally trap in softer dirt than I do.

I pulled the trigger on a dozen 1.75’s and should have them early next week.

Our coyotes probably aren’t as big as they are up north so I’m not worried about the chain itself failing or opening up. I’m not worried about getting thrown out of the NTA or having my traps confiscated if I do keep the twin loop chain either. I do have to say that Ky’s setup sure looks stout, especially with the rod/sterling swivels. The swivels and twin loops tendency to link are really the only reason I’m leaning towards changing.

I have used alot of 2/0 loop chain on drags. I run 10 to 12 foot with swivels. I use a 2.5 to 3.5 drags I make. I use machine chain up closer to trap. Fixing to order 200 ft 2/0 loop chain to fix up the drags I got made up.
