thinking about modifying some of my 150s, 160s, 220s. And wanted to try bait clip triggers. Never even heard of them before til recently. Was wondering what anyone else's experience was with them. And what they used them on. And how to set them up. Also thinking about 4 way triggers on some of my others. Has anyone observed a increase in catches with 4 ways?

4 way BG triggers are better than STD. 2 way triggers for me. If anyone can remember the old Big Bear triggers, they were the best followed by the Victor 4 ways. With a little tinkering you can make most triggers more sensitive and into a 4 way. Should be a post or two in the Archives about it. Baiting a BG trigger is a whole different subject............ the mike

I like the 4 way triggers better, but I don’t bait them.

I used some year's ago for under ice beaver trapping, worked ok.
But 2-3 snares on a pole made for less to pack, and done right out performed baited trigger setups.

Other than that I don't see a need, I'm thinking coon would grab with
Paw snap conibear pull out an be gone huh?

Let me sugar coat this

This works well but as mentioned snares are less bulky

Some rat trappers bait triggers when trapping rats under ice.
You will catch the odd beaver with a baited trigger but its better to bait between the jaws.
Swimming beavers move a lot of water and with a chunk of wood bait on a 330 trigger you will get more snapped empty traps.

I would never give up baited trigger BG's they have a very productive place on my line under the ice. They can be set in locations where other sets aren't possible and increase catch. They take M'rat, beaver, mink and otter for me. Above the ice they are too dangerous on incidentals for my liking, though at surface level in M'rat open travel paths they have worked safely(but not near as well as underice). They are the best set at M'rat push up I know and in bubble trails across open areas. They just become unpractical when the ice thickens to feet here and subzero. A coni-clip on a short length of 1/2" PVC with a screws eye thru one side of PVC on a fiberglass stake makes for very quick, easy setting. Also drops away catch to bottom. Same can be made for larger BG's like 330. BUT I wouldn't use it exclusively.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.
