Was curious if anyone uses these for coyotes? If so how well do they hold up to the abuse, and how much tinkering with them as far as working on the dogs and pans are needed before and after a catch? Thanks

I know someone who uses them. He likes them. Never heard no complaints. Chain looks rather weak to me. I would replace it with better. And 3 swivels instead of the 2. Just me though

I've used them for coyotes but not my go to trap for them. The dog and dog frame(where dog attaches) get bent out of whack after a coyoted catch but some quick tweaking at the set and they will be ready for the next catch. They would make a good fox trap.

This is a good trap....of the past.

You would need to replace the chain and add a base plate at the very least. Then each time you catch a coyote you will have to repair the dog. In my opinion you could just by a No BS Junior and have a trap ready to go with no mods needed, probably for the same cost or less by the time you modify the Victor K9 Pro.

Own quite a few #2s and 1.75s an yes they hold a coyote fine. Best to b handy with a set of pliers after the catch (sometimes). Chains are junk but will hold

I bought some jrs and were definitely not ready to go out of the box with 7+ lb pan tension on each trap

Out of the box wasn’t literal, I do adjust mine to a floppy pan, then they are pretty much ready to go. That’s a lot less work then most traps require to be ready to go. I don’t think any trap is “ready out of the box”, even Jakes need a little pan adjusting.

If ur talkin this one. I have used it plenty. Good for yotes. I just added a length of chain amd checked pan tension. I'd use them again if i still remained a coilspring guy.
