I have done plenty of that. Lots of people do with their chooks , as pets or show birds. They are gorgeous after a nice bath , just as all the horses and dogs I have prepped for show.
I also have a perfect bath solution for those whom I have rescued or wanted to add to my flock. A solution of Adam's Flea & Tick liquid in lukewarm bathwater . You have to work the water right through those thick insulating, water shedding down feathers to the skin. Works like a charm. They rinse out clean and free of any parasitic varmints. And chooks really do love a nice bath...treated gently, they relax and enjoy . Dried in soft towels , blow dry or warm room temp . They always do their own needed preening along the way.
Lots of folks do that, most people never know they do.

Does that work for cats, too?

Does that work for cats, too? Yep, I have had to wash cats and have one that gets shaved with clippers every spring because he hits matted up . No gloves needed on these just a firm grip on the scruff of the neck.
