4.8 rating out of 530 reviews. Sounds pretty good. At Autozone.

Most any modern oil is fine, as long as you keep up on oil changes. Some are better than others, of course, but none are really bad.

Only the older engines (1970 and older) will need the oil with the Zinc additive. Otherwise it will destroy the cam and lifters.

I use Valvoline VR1 in my 1969 SBC.

Yup. I buy my oil at Rural King, their store brand. I believe it is made by Valvoline, with a different label.

From what I've heard, its good oil. I'm surprised you didn't ask about the oil before you bought it though.

Very true. The only stuff to be wary of is what is called ' reformulated oil ' it is sold usually in bulk to oil change places. Reformulated oil is a mix of recycled and re-refined oil blended with virgin oil. It will work ok as long as you strictly follow your mileage between oil changes. Valvoline aka Jiffy-lube provided it to their shops. Bottled virgin oil was sold as an upsell there too. Some car dealerships would have it too for oil changes.

Something you don't need when buying quality oil.

Some oil barely meets API certifications, and others exceed it by a mile.. Remember the saying..ya get what ya pay for.

as long as you stay away from supertech walmart oil any name brand is fine even it is fine if you change every 3K and don't have high demands

most store brands are fine

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

if you have a Napa near by Napa oil in the past was Valvoline , it may not be Valvoline any more but they tend to match the formula of name brand oil and be good oil , they have a reputation to maintain.

Napa gold filters are Wix filters they are good also.

I've been told that SAE is SAE or any basic SAE rated oil meets the standard minimums and if you follow the manufacturers recommended oil change intervals they all work. However are some better or exceed SAE minimums, of course there are. How much better I don't know but I do prefer the peace of mind of using a good name brand synthetic, namely valvoline, even if it costs a little more.
