The Cattle are still Fat ...but on Hay now water and mineral. 2 Pastures are burned up. Two more have a foot of Grass and clover But I don't want them to die off so I pulled my 16 head into Winter quarters and one woods section

Mt bucket with bale forks is being repaired so the last two bales I moved in were with my homemade chopped -modded boat trailer with forks . It's Ugly and I almost sold it once but now I'm sure Glad I have it. [Linked Image]

Looks like a Missouri rig. Fortunately for us our pastures and hay ground are in great shape.

If it is functional and usable, why ditch it? Too bad to be feeding up limited winter forage already.

If it works use it. We started out this year wet and cool, so hay wouldn't get going. (Mostly bermuda here im guessing your hay is alfalfa) Then it got hot and dry after a weak 1st cutting, so started feeding new hay. Now its raining so much there's rank hay everywhere and you can't get a forecast to cut it. Sometimes its all in one year. Take it as it comes I guess, hope your season improves before frost

Whatz hay going for in your area?
I just bought 4000 ton 1200lb bales alfalfa for $260 per ton and 500 ton meadow grass 1200lb bales at $300 per ton.

Heard western hay was selling for over 350 ton back east?

With the rain we got the last week our 3rd cutting will be very good and maybe the 4th as the big dairies cut every 28-30 days here. Prices have been dropping off some, but quality is always an issue here when we get heavy summer rains.

Our little chunk of hay was just cut and baled. We got 2 bales off what we normally get 8-9 off of. We have got as high as 11. It did better than I thought it would. I also ordered 100 small squares. Nothing but a rabbit could make a winter here on two bales.

That is a pretty neat contraption. We've left our cows on pasture and let them destroy it, next year is going to be a pain due to the overgrazing this year.

I'm trying Not to follow the prices...I pre bought 100 LG. Bales this spring at my friend's price, and now he's letting me know "how much he's losing on me". He named the price and I paid the next day.
