I've made some six trap floats that fit four 1.5 and two rat traps but I don't have any pics

Make sure one rat cannot set them all off or your wasting time and traps that would be working at other sets.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Don't build to many until you see If they work. The only time I had any luck with floats Is when I trapped In ND In the spring. Other then they they weren't very effective.

I had my best luck with floats (fall) on small creeks or moving water. By small I mean 5-10 foot across or less, but even then they were spotty. Out on big marshes with feed beds, houses etc. my catch rates were very, very low.
We don't have a spring season here where you have open water while ice is going out for the most part. I messed around with them for too long and had about 2 dozen, finally pulled out the metal, took off the wire and had my son use them in the outdoor wood burner.

Make them from old wood and use good lure, Obviously close to muskrat sign ie good location. I have best results in creeks and streams with trees and brush high over over. They need to feel protected from birds of prey and other predators. Nice to have in place before freeze ups and during rising and falling water.

Mink are common for me when setting floats for rats. I can remember many floats with three traps and two rats and a mink. Once had a beaver with three number 1 longsprings on three feet and dispatched its self.

Too big and they’re hard to carry around. I like the fiberglass posts with HAGZ brackets anymore.
