I use Duke heavy duty cage traps on my skunk line. I think they are 15”x20”x3’. Plenty big for coons. The weak spot is the wire on the pan. Big coons rip it off. I replace it with sheet metal. Lots of better cage traps out there but these work for me.

Schroeder cages. Made in Nebraska, durable as well as economical.

14X14X36 will catch everything we can catch here 12.5 wire is coon proof but I make my own, wire took a big jump so check current pricing.
Tru Catch in Belle Fourche, SD makes a good sturdy trap also.

Will be watching this thread as I am dealing with some real destructive raccoons here the past few months. Local farmers buy the Havaheart or other cheap big box store traps and the raccoons destroy them in no time, (4 in the past two months). I was at the NTA also and looked at Comstock's traps, nice but a bit out of my price range for what I need. Found one other guy there who makes a good looking trap at a more reasonable price for me but he was sold out.

With the price of wire reasonable takes on a new meaning.

Cheap cages from tractor supply wont hold up. Here is cage that a coon literally ate a hole through back and escaped. Bent door and pan badly too. Buy quality.
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

With the price of wire reasonable takes on a new meaning. I just compared a price from Jan 17 2019 to the price listed on their web page and 1x2x36 12.5 is up $21 a 100 foot roll.

Buddy makes a lot of cages if you want a better break on wire it only take $50,000 to get a good price on a load of it he told me today if you want the panels precut, 100 foot rolls would be a better deal now just more labor intensive.
