With the way the market is unless you have a LOT of GOOD coyote ground access I would wait till December. They will have some value by November 1st

You are north of me, but I dont start until December 1st. Even coon are better here after thanksgiving, but definitely coyotes are better then.
Northern states may get better a little soon than here but not much.
Most of our trapping seasons here open November 1st, way too early for nearly everything we trap. No season on coyotes here but again we wait just because no sense taking them until they are at their best.
Window is a little short too...they grow a nice coat but dont exactly take good care of it. About mid january we are done on coon and coyote start seeing a lot more damage after that.

I wait until Thanksgiving. That date also is after our firearm deer season.

Just a caveat to add...need to take weather conditions into account. Those heavy, prime coyotes aren't worth squat if you're snowed in and can't catch them. Also the later you go into the season it's harder to catch in numbers unless you can have bait stations out.

If you want to trap for 2 months and have plenty of ground and plenty of coyotes start middle of November. If you will only trap for a month or less or limited land to trap wait till first of December.

A least ur honest about it. I like that . Now a days it seems with the kids they trap for one year catch a few animals, read and watch a bunch on the internet and by the second year they have a YouTube channel and are showing everyone how to trap. My First three years coyote trapping I was probably teaching the coyotes way more than I was learning. After about seven years we might be equally matched. Took me probably a month to catch my first one in a foothold. Might have caught half dozen my second year.
