My 13 year old son and I are interested in spending a week around Christmas trapping in Missouri. Is nonresident trapping permitted in Missouri?

Missouri does permit out of state trapping. Anything owned by conservation department trapping isn't permitted on tho without a "special use permit". Right of way trapping is legal and corps of engineers owned ground allows trapping.

Also allowed on National Forest Land, Millions of acres south of the Missouri River. Maps can be had for the various sections from the USFS in Rolla, Mo. Get an official Mo road map for a rough idea of where they are.

Non-res tag is $192, If you already know where you want to trap send off to that county for a county road map. Usually a Chamber of Commerce freebee, that will show all the 2 tracks and fire service lanes, with some topo details. Each county has a Plat book showing landowners, but that cost's. Go to www.mdc.mo.gov and request the State Reg's book. Know where your gonna stay, or camp out, bear in mind it get's pretty cold here.

How do the regulations on this compare to Iowa's ROW laws? Here its considered public ground and I can trap from fence row to fence row over the road without asking permission from anyone. Bodygrips and snares need to be 200 yards from occupied dwellings but footholds, cages, DP's and the like can be set in someone's front yard (not like anyone does this but it would be legal. )
