I hate trying to store cut #9 wire in the truck or on the atv. A quick twist like in the video makes it stiffer and straight as an arrow.
I’m not the first fellow to do this but thought I would share the trick to those who have not seen it.

God Bless,

Dustin

Good Video, just don't over do it or it becomes brittle and will break when bending it. Just like welding rebar stakes!

Just a tip... I've found that you can effectively do aboit 100ft of wire at a time with the straightening method doing this. Really helpful for making snare suppprts/slide wires in bulk. Especially if you can't find the big rolls and dealing with the 10lb rolls.

If you ever need to soften any wire like the old telephone wire that’s all over here just build a wood fire and let it burn down and cool on it’s own to make it easier to work with.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I just stretch a complete roll at a time and then cut to length

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Cute, but that will put a lot of stress in the wire and it could fail in use.

With annealed, that isn't going to happen because of the twisting unless you twisted it so tight that the wire snaps off as your twisting it

Annealing won't take out that much stress.

It will be OK for a support but I would never use twisted wire like that for a tie-off support.

The key is to bring it to a high temperature and then cool it very slowly. When the fire burns down bank the ashes over the wire and it may take a day or more to cool down and don’t pull it out of the fire while hot and cool in water.
