Never could figure out why, buildings, weapons etc, are not blown or destroyed upon leaving a combat zone. Even our embasey should have been destroyed.
That firing pin can be replaced in minutes with todays computer software. Pretty hard replacing weapons after several white PH gernades are throw on it.

They left people behind, what makes you think they care about equipment?

"we" the US left all those weapons and armor and equipment to be used by the Afghan security forces and they deserted leaving the arms and equipment for the Taliban

I would be very suprised if the firing pins were missing and even if they are that is a simple fix even in a 3rd world country , run a guy over to Pakistan with 1 good firing pin and they will turn him a thousand they may be garbage steel just get 3K and hand them out with every 4th magazine.

for a "simple" people they figured out how to part together AKs of different generations from a pile old parts and be a threat

Don't under estimate your enemy.

I'm not just talking about this arm pit, Southeast Asia when we pulled out, Turkey when the military took over some of the bases, Iran when the Shah was disposed that I know of, probably many other places I don't know of.

I don't know if the people who were left behind were private contractors, or not, if they were then let the company that hired them, get them out.
If not then a stone shouldn't be left unturned to get them out, by any force necessary.

I once had a ANSF build an exact replica of the Leatherman tool I carried out of a leaf spring . Another day ,I watched a group completely tear down and move two vehicles that encountered each other on a narrow mountain road . Neither could pass each other , no way one could back up. So that was the solution.

An eight year old boy , in Afghanistan, could churn out those .

all any one here is seeing is a guy who should be hanging by the neck until dead , wearing a power tie and spouting nonsense on TV.

The afghans got a good upgrade from the 303 Enfields and such my brother in laws unit collected and smashed up in the road with tracked vehicles. I was sick he couldn't/didn't send some back .Some were very nice. Amazing old bolt guns get smashed and made inoperable but modern machine guns, armor vehicles, explosive, ext.. just get left to use.

Thermite grenades do a better job.

Can't believe they are letting them take the high tech weapons to Pakistan like they are.

We will see the other end of those weapons in the upcoming decade!!........jk

If I remember correctly, the motor pool guys were trained to pick one vital component and destroy it/render it useless on every vehicle... So you couldn't cannabalize from one to run another.

Of course if you're leaving stuff behind for your "allies" to continue the fight, you don't do that.

As for the meme, they'd have guys fabbing firing pins out of duplex nails by tomorrow.

Personally, I would've pulled a handful of rounds out of each ammo can and made sure the crimps were "good and snug" and put them back in... If all goes well, you destroy the weapon and the trigger-puller all at the same time. Worst case, your enemy has some serious reservations about using all the gear you left behind.

I well remember being trained on demolitions in the million dollar hole at Leonard Wood. Willy Pete will melt a go devil jeep block into something that won't move.

I doubt they even have willy pete grenades in inventory these days.

White phosphorus burns at about 2800 degrees, thermite burns between 4000 and 5000 degrees. Thermite is the choice for destroying material that may be compromised. Trust me on this.
