New trapper here. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on what is the best way to drill dirt holes with an auger. Would a regular drill work or an impact wrench. What brands would be durable?

I just drive a stake in the ground and wiggle it around to team out a hole. No need to carry around extra equipment

I have caught the majority of my coyotes doing this. Thought I'd try an auger and see if the big hole seems to increase my catch. If no difference going back to stake driver. Also think auger will aid in pulling earth anchors.

Frozen ground is where the driving your earth anchor driver in gets to become a chore. A hammer drill is money in frozen or hard ground.

Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand

You sure can. You do have to have an auger made for a rotary hammer drill, SDS bit.

I like a 5’ “punch bar” with point on it. It makes deep holes and helps get anchors out of the hard ground.

Yes sir does that thing have reverse?
If not maybe you use a left hand cutter?
Never seen one.
