I got a farmer who will let me trap his farm if I use soft jaw traps (he has dogs that roam free). Is there a practical way to install soft jaw pads on standard traps? The aftermarket pad kits I am seeing at the user online suppliers seem to be replacement kits for traps that were made with soft jaws. I am looking for a way to install soft pads on a few of my existing traps. They are mostly Oneida Victor 1.75s, a couple Duke 450s and 550s.

You can put SJ's kits on an offset jaw trap only.

They are some work to make regular traps into soft catch. Most all of the kits are for existing soft catch traps. As stated all kits are made for off set traps and are pre drilled for replacing/mounting the pads and retainers.

I bought a bunch of 550 rubber jaws and can just change them out when needed.

I'm itchin' to see a coyote twitchin'.

More trappin' and less yappin'.

You can buy new jaws, pads, bolts and nuts to convert what you have but you would probably be better off buying used rubber jaw traps and replacing any damaged pads. Should not be hard to find user traps at a decent price.
