Wow, i have had it way better than realized. I though trapping in frozen ground and pounding stakes was hard. Today i went to set up a cattle pasture for coyote and i couldnt get a stake in the ground more than a few inches and broke my driver after two attempts.

Makes one appreciate what one has to deal with everyday. It can always be worse!

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I hear you on the rock. Many of the creeks I trap are glacial till, rocks from pea sized to watermelon size. What's not rock is silt. Anchoring traps is always an adventure.

About half of our sets are with drags. We trap in granite country. Stakes can come out of the ground pretty twisted sometimes.

We trap a lot of shale ground so I got the heat treated super stake driver for last season. Tip bent at a 45⁰ angle on the very first set, i was not impressed.

Trapped in places before cable anchors that the stake would either come right back out of the hole or you had to cut the chain to keep the trap because it’s never coming out. Thaw and freeze here will freeze the ground solid in some places you cannot drive anything in the ground.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
