Backbreaker has increased in popularity so much that I'm not able to produce enough to meet demand. The problem is my inability to acquire enough southern castor. I was thinking about terminating wholesaling that lure, and only retailing it, but I really didn't want to do it. I am between a rock and hard place, if you know what I mean. The problem is that I'm limited to using only southern castor. That's what works best in the north and south. I experimented with northern castor, and it did well in the north, but not as good in the south. I had a USDA worker call to order Backbreaker to be delivered to the NY convention. I told him of my problem concerning my inability to formulate enough to keep up with demand. He suggested that perhaps I could use northern castor for use in the northern climates. This got me to thinking that it may be a good way to alleviate the problem I had in producing enough Backbreaker using southern castor. I might try to market "Northern Backbreaker" for use in northern climates. So, you may see this variant of Backbreaker in the future. Just a heads - up. Anyone who has northern castor for sale, I'm offering $80. a pound for clean dried castor with no grade.

I think it is a good idea and a great way to keep the product on the shelves and in the hands of trappers. If it has the same results for us northern trappers (and I'm sure that you would make sure before putting it on the market) than I will start buying that to help out the southerners. Thanks for the heads up, Sir!

Sounds to me like those southern beaver run for the hills when they smell that a northern beaver has come to town. lol I have some Backbreaker left from when I bought some from you years ago, Paul. Any idea whether it had southern or northern castor in it? Jim

Where is the line separating the castor? Why I'm guessing the Mason-Dixon line. That's where it use to be separated. Lol

I use it as change up on our coyote and cat line here, and ive had great results on beaver with it when I trapped beaver too. Northern, souther,n not sure it matters the source, really. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

There are marketing geniuses on TMan! I hear ya Paul. These lure ingredients trials and tribulations are rugged. Anyone growing red fox glands on a bush by chance? If not, please start.

If you do this you need to recruit a top notch beaver trapper from the north and one from the south to have a competition using each variant. North vs. south in battle once again.

Mark is the low price, short harvest of fox impacting your fox gland availability? Paul, I was wondering if the strong castor prices was impacting your product ingredient supply. Hope you get a good solution figured out. I'm confident you will. Jim

jabNE, there just aren't many fox to be had in numbers that make harvest/freeze/selling worth while. Prices on red fox have gone down of course but the gland prices have escalated accordingly. Supply and demand works at the lure maker end anyway. Not sure how fur prices work anymore.

Now I want to buy some Backbreaker. Do I need it? No. But I want to sniff it from time to time. You should try to get some Canadian beaver castor. Boco always has the answer to everyone' s problems.
