I used do this myself an use donut spare to do it an 4 way wrench, no jackstands I have, to much work an hard back an so have shop do it where bought tires, never problem loose nuts at that shop but have heard horror stories other ppl at other shops on occasion with wheels fall off , strip out lugs, etc, so I got home an check them an maybe turn some nuts not all, a half turn at most by go round wheel on 6 lugs, ur suppose recheck torque , I have steel wheels , no aluminum , so I forgot ur suppose tighten criss cross, they did this at shop , so by rechecking an not criss cross when recheck torque an turn some nuts anywhere from a tad to maybe half turn at most , can u screw up wheel with that little bit of tighten by not criss cross when donut an just recheck from 1 lug to next ? The shop tighten correctly an I recheck an tighten just little but forgot to in criss cross fashion , I can't rember what I did last time I recheck torque , possibly same thing , maybe that what do at shop with air wrench , crisscross tighten pattern an for final tighten , no criss cross pattern, just go from 1 lug to next ? Anyone know ?

Not all but most nuts I tighten a little, if they move slightly I would go all way around an tighten a hare more , not as hard as could but maybe half as hard, could been 3/4 turn all together on some lugs, thinking about what just did, At most probly half turn tighten but not all once, went around it an came back, I used put them maybe even little tighter when I did it myself but criss cross

Ya the tires really wear on inners on Colorado's, maybe all small trucks, not as much when newer but always wear on front inners an had align before , front end ok, rotate 6000, it is what is end tires, have Kelly at tired now , I like brand before better , slightly more expensive, ones before were close $600 for 4, Kelly's are around low $500, I doubt make more 2 years these

aluminum or steel rims ?
the issue is typically with aluminum rims and back in the day 25-26 years ago when I wrenched at a tire shop we always told people come back in 100 miles and we will check the torque
which meant they came in and said I am back for you to check the torque well about 1 in 10 any way that did come back I would grab the right size socket for their car and my 24 inch breaker bar and go check them all in the parking lot it wasn't worth the time of pulling it in if it wasn't raining.
much less of an issue with steel rims , but you can just check them with your 4 way in a week and you will be fine

I would wonder how much you changed the torque from what the tire shop had them at vs. what they are now after you snugged them up.

as for tire rotation , some vehicles wear rears more than fronts , or fronts wear at the edges and rears wear flat across so on those it is worth rotating
I had 2 dodge caravans that being front wheel drive wore the fronts out in 1/3 of the time of the rear , but you still wanted the best tires on the front so the rears stayed the rears for 2 sets of fronts then all 4 got changed
going around and checking wear , and taking a measurement even if it is just a coin in the tread lets you decide if it needs doing probably does not on 50% or more of vehicles any more

IF your wheel alinement is good and you camber and caster are go and your wheel are balanced your ok not to rotate. When one get out of line get it fist or rotate the tires right away. JMO

Tire rotation is a scam. Your tires rotate every time you drive. Do your rear tires scuff when turning corners? This is good to rotate front to ear every 5000-6000 miles. Every time my oil is changed, the tires are rotated from front to back, same side. Consistent wear across the tread. Most aluminum wheels today are way better than say 30-50 years ago. With a steel wheel weighing almost 40% more than the aluminum, it increases the need for a heavier duty shock to handle the extra weight going up and down. Harder on the suspension.

Ya I always used get pretty tight lugs when rotate myself , just wonder if ok to snug up a little an check after shop, I forget to crisscross , but didn't tighten lots , maybe half turn on some lugs, cant rember if forget criss cross last time , I think shop maybe on final tightness with air ratchet, after criss cross, just go from 1 lug to next with no criss cross
