Oh and as some of the others have said, you must have a good cornbread on the side.... AND remember playing covered wagon is only fun for you, your wife will not see the humor in it!

Fried tators too. Slice em up in a skillet with bacon grease. i like some onion in them also. Salt and pepper. Low heat and a lid. When they are about done add about 1/4 cup of water and some green chili if you have any to the skillet and put the lid back on. After about 15 minutes they are ready to eat and nothing will be stuck on your black skillet. I like ketchup on fried taters.

A glass of cold buttermilk with that good looking corn bread is good to me.

Cant get buttermilk here. I dont know anybody selling raw milk. All the dairies have gone corporate. All we can get is whatever that stuff is at grocery stores.

The baking soda helps to soften the beans. If the beans are old they sometimes will not soften.
