Bought some coyote & other stretchers this weekend at the Tipton show. Do I need to seal them with anything before using them?

I dont, but some people do.I just dont feel it is necessary.I dont see any downside if you want to seal them.
I wipe down my boards with a rag after spraying with wd40 at the end of each season.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I also have never treated my boards. IMO untreated boards help in the drying of pelts by absorbing moisture from the hide. In between use the moisture evaporates from the boards.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Never have. Don’t think it could hurt anything to seal them is you want.

I dont treat my boards either. I do make my own though and they are the solid boards. The only thing I do with mine is drill holes through at the nose end to help the head portion of the hide dry faster.

Yes I treat my stretchers after sanding any rough spots I'll rub some turtle wax paste on them and they seem to last without warping or anything else and water runs off them better no molding either another plus in my way of thinking .

Even if I'm in the high alpine desert we do get plenty of humidity .
