Any indiana guys know if there is a size limit on how big of colony trap we build. Ive been looking in regulations and ain't finding anything.
I got a couple 12 inch tiles on a farm fully submerged except maybe a inch. Area is big enough for a 12x12x 36 inch trap would I be legal if i went that big. Tia

I'm not aware of any restrictions. You'll be ok with that size, or pack a few smaller ones in there

No restrictions that I'm aware of either, I think I might go with cattails idea though in case you get one rat in and it jams the door from opening for any others trying to get in or out of the tile.

I've caught as many as 12 In a 9x9x36 and never had the doors jammed up. My advise would be to get some 6" colony traps then make 4 wings. Make the wings 6x6 and put a set on each end. Just zip tie them to the leading edges of your traps. Know your 6" trap can cover about 18" and you can just funnel the rats Into the trap.

I have attachable extension cones that increase my 12" funnel colony ends to 22" for the 24" culverts that our DOT has gone to. They just zip tie on ends. If the water drops at all the 12" part of the trap remains fully submerged(12x36 colony have held as many as 14 m'rats - back in the days when there were more than 14 in the whole marsh as now).

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.
