Ok this should be fun. Found this on a ride around the other day. How would y'all set this ? I can see at least four or so different ways .Thinking a blind set in that lil ,wash down wind , might get washed out eventually though,a trap blended about a foot off the eye socket and one off the nose with some lure and bait in the skull would be good. Eveything on drags and all blended in like it is. Just my idea. What would y'all do ? Ps, tracks and poop of all sorts coming up and down this two track and theirs a lil pond about 20yd behind me

How is the prevailing wind going to move through your photo?

I'm actually not sure of the prevailing wind year round but that day it was coming from the back of the skull back down the trail. Well from my back down the trail the way I'm looking in the second pic

I would put one trap off the nose between those 2 stick ups making a "walk thru" flat set. I would also put a DH w good visiblity on the opposite side of 2 track maybe down lower where the wind may swirl more. Just my thinking

I don’t see any reason for 2 traps at the skull. There are quite a few larger brushy weeds around it already, I’d probably just snip a couple off and plant them where the second trap would go. Definitely on a drag
I’d take a shovel to that dirt mound making it have more of a vertical face to it. Then put a nice big hole up high and give him a flat place to stand in front of it. I’d stake that trap down and let him make a mess of it and put a scent post 20 feet downwind of the dirt hole. That way when you catch one there, you have another waiting for the onlookers.

I'd move that skull and place it just inside the grass across from that pine tree to the left. I would use the skull for a flat set. And maybe make a post set and/or a blind set on the approaches to the skull where the animal would first catch sight of that skull. That's just me as hobbyist playing...

Let's go Brandon!

One trap to catch any potential trash the other there for a target animal. Since their in drags whatever gets caught hopefully goes off with out disturbing the other. The hole left from the fired trap would basically end up being a foot guide especially after it fills with some water after a rain or two.

So I'm just curious, why move that skull ? It's been there a while critters are probably pretty used to it being there, wouldn't moving it cause some cutters to get cautious? I mean I can see it also causing a positive response I reckon

Hard to argue with that logic!
