What is the most coyotes you have caught in a year with a single lure??

Or the number you have caught in a single season, with a peticular lure

I been using NightTrain lure from about March 15 th till aboit September 15 th. I have caught 103 coyotes with it so far

Chris, thanks for letting us know about your success with Mr. Lucero's lures. I called him and bought some of each of his lures including some freshly bottled Night Train. What kind of sets have you had the most luck with it? And how are you applying the lure, and how much?

Thanks Dan. I am now at about 470 coyotes for the year. One more Alabama job and I am off to West Texas to work from Oct 18 th till about Feb 8 th . ALL but about 20 coyotes have been caught with James Lucero's lures. I am hoping to see MR Lucero for a few days in October when I first get to West Texas. My goal for the year + is to make it to 800 coyotes by Dec 23 th I use mostly flat sets. And I use a lure stick just like in Lucero’s book

I also use this bottle. It makes a good lure applicator. Puts a good size drop right on the lure stick.

You said you were cleaning up traps. You said that you use Formula One. When it gets cooler (say in the fall and winter) do you dip them in a heated garage or something? I have read that it is supposed to be fairly warm when using that product.

I have a wood burning stove in my barn. Its usually not that cold in Alabama in early to mid October. 58 in the morning And 80 degree highs. Just had about 70 traps to clean up. Headed to West Texas after next 10 day job

Your welcome. They also carry those black tipped paint brushes I LOVE to use in rainy weather. Make a GREAT lure holder and grub stick. It’s raining like crazy now. In a hr or 2 I will go to lure shed and get you a picture of one. OR sooner if it quits raining

It finally quit raining. Here is some pics of = grub stake or lure holder i use. Im up at my lure shed.

You can wrap bottom with sheeps wool and press in ground. Makes great multi color grubs stick ^^^^^^

Or. Cut it off like this and put lure in it with = Hobby Lobby bottle applicator

Just spread foam a part with fingers after you have drove it in ground. It will hold lure threw LOTS of rain. Ask me how I know ! LoL!!!

JL#1 has remained my top lure overall. Coyotero and Winter Wolf are always fighting it out for the number two spot.

I wasn’t able to get my hands on a bottle of Night Train until the tail end of last season, so I didn’t have the opportunity to put it in the lineup.

Lucero’s lures & methods have continued to work extremely well down along the border.

A triple was pulled from the same location the day before.

Thanks for the tip on the sponges. Been thinking about making some grab and die sticks as well as flat set lure holders but that will be a lot easier and better. I just gave my wife an excuse to go to hobby lobby though no telling how much those will end up costing me in total with all the other stuff she’s gonna buy

The most coyotes I've caught in one season off a single lure, came on Mark June's "Coyote Frenzy." Very good stuff!

To me. Trap placement is = where I feel the trap should go. I just take Winter Wolf • JL#1 • NightTrain = or Coyotero and run it down the plastic that divides the paint brush one you tear it open

Then I put some SMC urine on the Black Lava rock. You can get Brown lava rocks at Lowes IF you want to use A Brown color

Caught 2 more coyotes so far today. One on Coyotero and One on Winter Wolf. I think that puts me at or around 482 coyotes caught this year on James Lucero lures. Hopefully I will be on West Texas in 2 weeks. My yearly goal is 800 coyotes. Cant wait to get back to TEXAS!!!!

Yes. Its is. Road past the coyote. Forks both right and left. Its a 500 acre cutover. But that little piece of high ground. AND 1 other spot are the locations i always catch best at. Trip after Trip

I am still surprised that trappers need more than one scent to catch an animal, any animal !

If you need several lures to do the job. . . you might just need a better lure !
I mean, how do you know which one worked ?
I'd much rather have 3 separate sets, one lure each, than one set, with 3 different scents, that's includes urine.

Agree, when there's urine at every set how do ya know it wasn't the urine or even what it was squirted on. Especially when I'm testing a new to me lure. Guess that's how I got the nick name gang set Gary.
