This is an old family photo from just over a century ago. (1910-12 or so) I believe I may have posted it before. The guy in the capote in the right foreground is my Great Grandad (just to the right of the ships captain-looking guy). My Grandad is the fellow behind the sleigh with the second team. There are actually two horses at the front of the sleigh....the one behind the obvious one is white and doesn't show up well in this copy. Deward Tract, Crawford Co. Michigan. My Gr. Grandad was a camp foreman for the Stephens Lumber Co.

In keeping with the fox theme (one of my favorite things to photograph): A pretty fox at sunrise. A triple. Fox tracks in fresh snow after having caught at least fifteen here. An angry fox. Another triple. Letting one go. And last but not least, a favorite of mine, my granddaughter and current trapping partner.
Eh...wot?

Hobbie,
Your photo reminds me of my summer of 1963 that I spent on the Eastern Shore (of Virginia) in the little crabbing town of Harborton, crabbing, fishing for eels and puffers, staying there with my grandparents. Interesting summer for a young lad from Idaho. Funny you mentioned that.

Yes Sharon, there is a window in the middle of winter here between mid december and late January when the colored foxes have nice full coats. That is an older photo from when I used to trap more than I do now.
